Build Confidence Through Clear Focus

August 29th, 2010 admin No comments

Build Confidence. Seeing is believing; or is it? How clear is your vision? Is your reality based upon what you see or what you know? I frequently find myself marveling at how easily one automatically jumps to conclusions based upon prior self-belief, ideas and expectations, sometimes to the extent of rendering oneself blind to that which is clearly placed within our vision.

This effect of self-belief is seen in many different ways and in numerous circumstances. For example I found myself contemplating something earlier this week. We have had various people in our home carrying out a little bit of renovation and every time they have seen me I have been sitting on the sofa with my feet up, wearing comfy pants and a loose sweater, hair tied back, tapping away at my laptop keyboard for hours on end. What do you think they thought I was doing?

I bet they didn’t think that I was at work. Perhaps they thought I was merely there so as to keep an eye on them, or that I was playing computer games, etc.

Malcolm Gladwell, in his book “Blink” cites many different cases of people making judgment calls “in the blink of an eye” most often without even realizing that they are doing so. We have a lot of preconceived ideas and self-beliefs stored within our minds, some of which we are aware and others which we are not. It is very important to be aware of this as it greatly affects both how we view situations and how others view us.

The HSBC advertisements which are emblazoned on billboards in airports highlight this fact as they play upon what is customary, and therefore expected, in different parts of the world. If you want to make a good impression, you need to be able to project yourself in a manner which another person will find to be pleasing, self assured and confident. Hence, for example, we tend to make a lot of effort prior to job interviews in deciding what to wear and what questions to ask, and so on. We do what ever we can to build interview confidence.

The preconceived ideas and expectations which we have are based not only upon customs, but upon our “social conditioning”. If you hear or see something frequently enough you start to believe it, even without realizing it. It is really important to appreciate that this happens to us, because in effect these beliefs create a filtered lens through which we see ourselves and the world. Our self-belief, levels of confidence and expectations effectively block our vision to things which are contradictory.

In reality the majority of us see what we believe as opposed to believing what we see.

This is why to build confidence and to have a positive attitude is so very incredibly important. We only “see” people responding to us in the ways which we expect them to, through those filtered lenses of “prior knowledge”, self-belief and our own expectations. If you feel insecure, lacking in self-assurance and low in self-worth, and are therefore not sure whether people will like you or approve of you, you will “see” and feel a negative response, even when the opposite is actually the case.

As you build confidence and become more positive however all that you will see are good reactions and good outcomes; even if something is not quite going as planned you will manage to turn it around in your mind and think and feel positively about it.

Being confident makes life a lot easier; self-confidence allows life to be a fun and enjoyable learning experience, filled with self growth and opportunities. If your reality is shaped by your expectations, you may as well learn to expect the best and move forwards with confidence and self assurance.

Treating Eating Disorders through Hypnosis

August 20th, 2010 admin No comments

Today, eating disorders such as Anorexia and Bulimia are running rapid. If a person intentionally starves him or herself yet believes they are overweight, they could very well be suffering from Anorexia Nervosa, which is a severe emotional disorder that needs serious intervention. With this, the diet is drastically restricted, coupled by excessive exercise. The result is dangerous weight loss that can cause serious damage to the body to include death. Bulimia is a form of Anorexia, which is characterized by misuse of laxatives, diuretics, enemas, and/or vomiting to rid the body of food consumed during binge eating. In both cases, the body is put at great medical risk. The problem is that both Anorexia and Bulimia are not just serious but difficult to treat. In addition to the body needing intervention, the mind also needs intervention since the individual with the eating disorder sees him or herself as fat although they could easily be 50% of their normal weight. These eating disorders typically begin in adolescents, which are seen most often around time of puberty. However, although rare, eating disorders can affect people over the age of 40, and again, both males and females although girls are in the highest risk category. If you have a child and you begin to notice things like infrequent or stopped menstrual cycle, dry skin, thinning hair, cold and/or swollen feet, or a bloated stomach while watching drastic weight loss, then you need to pay attention. The psychological signs generally involve poor judgment, problem with memory and/or concentration, a distorted perception of the body, denial, obsessive-compulsive behavior, and depression; these could well be indications that an eating disorder is a problem. Treating eating disorders is a long process that addresses both physical and psychological. Many of the traditional treatment options include cognitive and behavioral therapy, antidepressants, and herbs. However, because the mind is involved, hypnosis has also been proven very beneficial for some people suffering from Anorexia or Bulimia. Although the exact cause of Anorexia and Bulimia remains unknown, most experts believe it has to do with the individual trying to gain control over their life. For this reason, you see young girls who are trying to fit into school, dating, or coming from a difficult home life turning to an eating disorder to gain some type of semblance in their life. With hypnosis, the subconscious mind can be reached and taught to change the normal pattern of thinking. By working with a reputable and licensed hypnotherapist, the subconscious can receive positive suggestions that relate to things beyond the eating disorder. Although that will be the primary reason for seeking hypnosis, the underlying issues that lead to the eating disorder in the first place are addressed. In this case, the depression and cause of depression is uncovered. The individual learns self-confidence, healthy control, and other positive tools that can be used to conquer the battle with Anorexia or Bulimia. Keep in mind that along with hypnosis, the individual with the eating disorder will need ongoing love and support by family and friends. By creating a positive environment, recovery is possible. When choosing the right hypnotherapist, you want someone who also believes and supports in the individual receiving other treatment and medication. These factors together will provide the best chance for success. In fact, many medical doctors are now adding hypnosis to their practice for this very reason. Over the years, studies have shown that in some cases, such as severe eating disorders, the combination of traditional medical care with hypnosis greatly improves the resolution.

The Art of Happiness Through Personal Development

August 20th, 2010 admin No comments

Regardless of how successful you are in life or how many goals you have achieved I’m sure you are just like the rest of the planet and are susceptible to bouts of negative thinking and unhappiness. Do you find the trials of life a challenge or a struggle? Perhaps you are very successful yet have an empty feeling inside that nothing can fill. Do you become frustrated at the pace of life and feel it is an up-hill struggle just to stay ahead? Have you ever even got ahead?

A very common phenomenon that occurs with those people who pursue, and even, achieve goals is getting caught in the trap of believing the goal itself is what they want. Do you strive hard to fulfill a desire and then become disillusioned when you achieve it like a great anti-climax? Perhaps you do not even allow yourself to achieve your goals in the first place.

The key to remaining happy lies not in setting goals or even in achieving them! It lies in the reason behind the goals. It lies in the emotions you associate with the goal itself!

The true reason you have for pursuing your goals and striving to achieve anything in your life can be traced to one reason only

Overcoming Phobias through the Power of Hypnosis

August 9th, 2010 admin No comments

Definition and symptoms of phobias: A phobia can be used as an illogical fear or fear to be defined. If a person suffers a panic attack, they increase get panic, her breathing and heart rate, they may feel overloaded when his heart experience is in the throat often their hands are sweaty, they can experience a ringing in his ears, and they are frequently found they can not participate, a business. These feelings motivate the individual to try to situations and places that trigger them to be avoided. Examples of common phobias: For example, if someone has an irrational fear of driving, they have these symptoms, when to drive it, or maybe even if they try to think about driving. Or a terrorist attack may occur when you go to certain places, like across the tracks. The fear of speaking before a group of people is a fairly common phobia. The feelings seem to fear if the patient is to speak to someone, they are afraid, or they could possibly be afraid begins feelings when confronted by a group of others. The size of the Assembly may vary. This phobia can be adjusted by fears of inadequacy or lack of self-esteem. Those who suffer from social phobia can be very nervous right around other people, even people they know. There is a fear that they will be criticized or judged by others. This fear can be triggered by any type of social relations. A person can wait in line at a supermarket and have feelings of stress, because they talk to to the fund, while present funds. The fear of the test (which is commonly known as test anxiety) is a very common phobia. A phobia of taking tests is rooted in comparing yourself to other people, and is deeply rooted in the fear of failure. The people have irrational fears, any kind of experience lived and the environment under the sun. For example, snakes, insects, relationships, flying, small spaces closed, and animals, heights, death, and even large rooms. Agoraphobia is widely seen as a fear of open spaces considered. But this definition is very confusing because agoraphobics really afraid of a panic attack are, where and when. This phobia develops when a person in places or situations they have associated with anxiety begins to be avoided. For example, it could be a panic attack at home, a church or supermarket. For people who suffer from phobias, panic attacks when its started, they begin to anticipate it happening. And this expectation in fact, they can occur with increasing frequency. Others feel a terrible sense on an ongoing basis. These feelings cause a general malaise, rather than panic. Forms of treatment AVAILABLEDRUGS ARE: some doctors for their patients with sedatives, which can aggravate the situation during prolonged treatment. Sedatives do not treat the cause of a phobia, it does not disguise some of the symptoms. Talk therapy require: Some schools of therapy “talk therapy”. Talk therapy only about what bothers you speak. Unfortunately, talk or even think about the situation or environment that triggers a phobia can trigger a panic attack! Hypnosis: Hypnosis has been used traditionally to treat phobias, but with little success. Traditional hypnotic treatment is achieved when the therapist introduces the topic in a relaxed state of self-hypnosis and orders from customers or post-hypnotic suggestion to give. Like most people to resist in this production output and direct suggestions, they also reject the idea that they are more relaxed and calm when confronted with the situation or environment that triggers their panic attacks. Systematic desensitization: systematic desensitization, the process of desensitizing a phobic person slowly environment or circumstances that triggers a panic attack. For example, if a woman wants from a high diving board, but she is afraid at first dive was from a height, that they feel the trust invited. She dives in and realizes that it does not hurt and is safe. Then it was immersed in the bottom of the invitation step up to the high diving platform. Again she shows up and realizes that she was not hurt, and it is safe again. Over time, the topic is invited to occupy in the increasingly higher steps on the ladder. Each time she dives in and realizes that nothing bad happened and it is certain, it is able to move to the next rung of the ladder. When she feels a sense of fear, then she has been invited to return from a rung on the ladder and dive from there until it feels complete comfort and absolute safety. Ultimately, it makes the top rung of the ladder and diving board in the top yourself. Systematic desensitization during the hypnotic state: systematic desensitization, virtually everything will be done in a hypnotic state with as good or even better results. While in a relaxed state of hypnosis, the woman would be invited to immerse themselves are on the ladder into consideration every step. She invited were relaxed and confident to see how it in. As she does everything breaks down into images dives, it is incapable of what phobic to a crisis. Then she was invited to participate, or place the camera in her head when she would see what they would see for themselves whether they actually had to dive at every step of the ladder. You will be asked to imagine the feeling of security and relaxed, as they live just like in a (in vivo) systematic desensitization, if she feels panic, she was invited to return to the previous step down to dive Given the size and the dive by there. It can be taught to create a kinesthetic (feeling of touch) “anchor” for feelings of safety and security. It could then activate it could be subjectively transferred to the act of diving at anchor, while immersed imagine, and the feeling of safety and security. The systematic desensitization, while can be very useful and totally successful in a state of hypnosis, but can also be slow and to achieve several hypnosis sessions to cure. NLP V / K dissociation: Neuro-Linguistic Programming is basically the study and practice of how we create our reality. The V / K for Visual / kinesthetic. The V / K dissociation is a technique that allows a trained NLP Practitioner guides by a topic-specific visual language that separates quickly, and in many cases at once, or feelings of cargo dissociates itself caused by the trigger or phobia. The V / K Disassociation is known as “session the only cure phobia” in Neuro Linguistic Programming circles, and rightly so. CONCLUSION: Irrational fears are common in our culture. They are the fears that are not grounded in reality. There are several ways to treat phobias, but this is only my opinion, the best of the best available systematic desensitization, so mesmerized, and Neuro-Linguistic Programming V / K Disassociation technology.
